about us

Located 5 miles north of Santa Cruz, Freewheelin’ Farm’s 8 beautiful acres have supplied residents and businesses in the Greater Bay Area with fresh, organically grown, fruits and vegetables for the past 7 years.  We are three farmers with a vision to provide our community with the best of our region’s bounty while caring for the earth, water, and people that make it all possible.

With epic 180-degree views of the Pacific Ocean and our close proximity to fresh streams and waterways, we strive to nurture our crops in the most sustainable way, often going beyond strictly organic methods.  Since our beginning days in 2002, we have made it a policy to examine our resource consumption and conserve water in our irrigation practices.  In pursuit of sustainability and our own ecological consciousness, Freewheelin‘ works to decrease it’s petroleum consumption on all aspects of the farm: from reusing old drip tape year after year, to building farm structures with reclaimed lumber, and ultimately, as per our namesake, to delivering our CSA shares by bicycle & trailer (our modern equivalent of the horse and buggy!).

Beyond simply growing fresh, healthy food,  Freewheelin’ Farm is also at the forefront of the growing movement towards community renewal, addressing issues of environment, health, and social equity in a simple and delicious way!
