What is CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture is a nationwide farm model based on a mutually beneficial relationship between farmers and consumers (members).  Members ‘buy into’ the farm early in the season and commit to share in the harvest, both in its unpredictability and its seasonality.  The farmers are committed to supply weekly deliveries of produce, but are ensured a steady market independent of yearly season fluctuations.  Both parties benefit from the social relationship and the opportunity to know and trust the people on the other end of an otherwise faceless monetary exchange.

The Freewheelin’ CSA is 25 weeks and runs mid-may until the first week of November (weather depending!).  We have one share size and you can expect 8-12 crops per a week and a diversity of over 30 crops throughout the season.  Feedback from past years suggests that the bag is perfect for a family of 2-4 people.  We deliver to drop sites in Santa Cruz, San Francisco, and Lafayette and the cost for a CSA share is $600-725 sliding scale*. Arrangements can be made for home delivery by BICYCLE (location permitting) in Santa Cruz and San Francisco at an additional cost.
